Here are the "unclean" reels from left to right: Beaudex, Medalist 1494, Medalist 1492 (both Pre-war), Gilmour Allcocks, and a Union Hardware.
I have been lusting over a Medalist for some time and I feel I grabbed a steal in these two. Ron, I may not have the 8 pound bass yet, but I think this is the same reel you used last Sunday. (1494)
The Allocks looks like a Pridex ,and is a sweet functional reel that I will definitely use. Nice strong click with no wobble at all. I am thinking the BS-100 will fit nicely on it. I should have at least wiped the dust off the faces of these reels to show them justice.
Last but not least is the Union Hardware. It seems lighter than my MG3 SS but will fit a sh#$ load of line on it. Very wide spool for a little reel. This just looks like a "fun" reel. Not as strong as click as the others, but seems to have seen little use at all. Great pan fish reel.
Oh yes, I almost forgot. One more.
My heart started beating fast when I saw this one. Hardly a scratch on her. I may have found a new favorite reel to stand alone over my Pridex Lightweight.
I will call her black beauty. Talk about a sexy little reel.
You can still see the dust on the inside from sitting over the years. I am not sure what year this reel is, or even if it is worth anything. It is just the most gorgeous sexy reel I have seen in a while.
I also picked up one rod. The black Beaudex balances perfectly on it. I lawn cast the rod yesterday and almost fell off my rocker. My favorite Lamiglas might be sitting the rest of the year.
I spent around $150 for the rod and $50 for the black Beaudex. That is big money considering what I paid for the other reels. I feel these two items are worth way more than that. They are two items I will probably never part with. I have not cast the Royal with any streamers yet, but it is smoother and stiffer than my 7' Silaflex. It throws out line a mile with tight control.
I picked up a 7'6" Phillipson (3M blank) a few weeks ago and I like this one much more. I will be reshuffling some gear when I get back from Canada! I will also be eating Tuna fish out of the can for the next month!
